The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and TURAS invite you to take part in the Sustainable and Healthy New Towns Conference and to celebrate the European Launch of the Green Living Room.

Earlier this year Barking Riverside (London) was selected as one of 10 Healthy New Towns by the National Health Service – the only one in London.   The site offers a superb opportunity to showcase sustainable development addressing health and well-being. Barking Riverside is also one of the areas TURAS is working in. In the framework of TURAS a method of mitigating urban heat islands by building a 'Green Living Room' was developed. The launch of the mobile version of the 'Green Living Room' will take place before the start of the conference and marks the beginning of its tour of European cities.

The conference will discuss various issues around forging resilient cities arising from the TURAS work and how this can inform the work being undertaken as part of the Healthy New Town initiative for Barking Riverside.

The Conference is directed at a wider professional audience and interested public and is free of charge. The conference takes place on 25th of August between 9.30 and 13.15. Please contact Cathereline Rodrigues on +44-(0)208-227- 3258 or  by Friday 19th of August if you would like to join us for the conference.

The Green Living Room Roadshow is a free community event taking place on 24th and 25th of August from 10.00 to 17.00 on Barking Town Square. Join us for free activities such as face painting, massages at the Bathhouse Barking and many more. Click on the image for more information.
